It’s the end of 2020, the year that most of us will want to forget. And even though things won’t be anything approaching ‘normal’ for a good while yet, at least there’s a light at the end of the tunnel now, so hang on in there!
Despite it being a strange old year, the NetSupport teams haven’t been sitting on their heels – quite the opposite! Early in the year, we did a shedload of product revamps to help customers cope with the changes that Covid-19 brought to their schools and workplaces. Not an insignificant task, especially as we needed to do them in double quick time! Here are just a couple of examples… in NetSupport DNA, we added remote support for teachers working at home and backed it up by providing audio support, too. And for ReallySchool, we added the tools for teachers to send out learning activities to pupils and parents at home, which has been so very useful to lessen learning loss.
New Kid On The Block
But of course, the really big achievement of the year was the unveiling of our latest innovation for in-school and remote learning: classroom.cloud! Its set of essential tools is just what teachers need to quickly be able to lead blended lessons in the classroom or teach students remotely when required. We really worked hard on the 'easy’ parts: easy to use, easy to set up, easy to maintain – and customers who are using it already say that it really is!
International Bright Young Things
We thought that 2020 was the perfect time to jazz things up a little and get some expert, smile-inducing help to promote our products. And, as none of us are blue, pink or purple, we decided to recruit a well-qualified and highly specialised team. So, here to make the world sing are the latest additions to NetSupport… Blu and Fuzz for Team classroom.cloud and Hootie for Team ReallySchool. Their mission is to go out into schools and bring joy to teachers and students everywhere. Welcome to the team, guys!
Money, Money, Money
Even though we haven’t all been together at NetSupport HQ for much of this year, we were still able to squeeze in a little virtual fundraising for Macmillan, Wear it Pink, Crisis and Wood Green The Animals Charity. No, it wasn’t quite the same as having a real bake-off/eat-off or seeing everyone’s pink outfits in person, but we still managed to evoke a bit of team spirit while doing it.
All Together Now
Thanks to technology, we’ve been able to continue networking and doing lots of collaborating in the education sector throughout the year. In April, we broadcasted a full-length live radio show with contributions from a range of education experts, and July saw us collaborate once again with a range of distinguished guests in the latest episode of our Big Education Debates series. We also worked with GDPR in Schools and MyConcern on a video to give data protection advice to teachers working at home; and still found time to write a number of articles and best practice guides (for publishers including SecEd, Headteacher Update and Teach Middle East), host the ‘Check it out!’ show jointly with Mark Anderson (don’t miss the next one on 22nd December!) – and much more!
NetSupport has a lot planned across the board for 2021 but one change for blog readers is that next year, we’re going to be sharing the love and posting our blogs across our company and our product sites a little more, rather than keeping them all here on the NetSupport DNA website. All you’ll need to do is follow the links on social media to see the latest posts.
Finally, we genuinely hope that, despite the current circumstances, the holiday period will be peaceful for everyone. We’d like to say a big thank you to everyone who has collaborated with us this year: customers, schools, NetSupport partners, education sector colleagues – and to you all, for reading!
From all of us at NetSupport, we wish you a very happy Christmas break – and here’s to health and happiness for 2021!
